Lovely ‘Ruins’ at Old Rag “Relics and Ruins” is a vibrant new exhibit that the photo artists of Old Rag Gallery, at River District Arts, open with a reception from 2 to 5 p.m. this Saturday (March 21) at RDA. As photographer Francie Schroeder, an Old Rag member, puts it, “Photographers have long been attracted to everything old from rusty bits and pieces to fine old automobiles.” Through their unique medium, photographers celebrate history, capturing the stories that silent artifacts and ever-changing nature seek to bestow. According to Old Rag’s Ray Boc, “Old Rag Photography is a cooperative gallery founded in 2011 on Main Street in Sperryville. Membership has changed through the years but the mission remains the same. We are six people passionate about photography, and Old Rag Photography is our window to the community. With this dedication, we enrich the culture of our county and support tourism and its economy by making the county an arts destination.” Evidence of the group’s passion abounds in the “Relics and Ruins” exhibit.
